I love what I do.

People and ideas inspire me. With over 20 years experience in communication design, I spend my time working with others to effectively communicate great ideas and projects. Having just completed a PGCE I am now looking to also teach design. The ’80’s saw the start of my training as a graphic designer. At the age of 16 I attended Plymouth College of Art for four years which taught me the core skills of translating ideas into communication design through the then almost surgically detailed craft of past up. The art of producing effective visual communication is a huge passion of mine and completely embedded deep in my psyche. It has been a privilege to work with the digital evolution of design production and watch it develop in to something unrecognisable from the spray glue and scalpel days. Learning the craft of the pre-digital, hand produced finished artwork has provided an invaluable backdrop to my career as a freelance communication designer. My roles as both employed and freelance have taught me the necessary skils to work well with a variety of teams. I have experience in all aspects of the design process including idea development, illustration and hand drawn visualisation, client liaison, pitching for projects, marketing and business development, copy writing, brand development, print production, digital design and project management. I have worked on a huge variety of projects with known clients but have gained the greatest pleasure from being involved with the passion and excitement of brand development and marketing with start up companies and charities. Since moving back to Devon nine years ago after a lifetime in London I have continued as freelance, continually look for fresh design experiences. Having gained a PGCE I am now looking to work in education also.
